Biscuits

This recipe will get you close; however, all measurements are best guesses. Practice will make you more skilled in this endeavor, but know that you could spend forever and your biscuits will never, ever, ever be quite like Sa’s. Serve hot from the oven with butter and plenty of ‘blue’ or ‘black’ jelly, your choice!
¼ to ½ cup Crisco
2 cups While Lily Self-Rising flour
¾ cup buttermilk
Preheat over to 500 degrees. In shallow mixing bowl, blend Crisco and White Lily using the back of a spoon, until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Blend in just enough buttermilk so that the dough leaves the sides of the bowl. Turn out on lightly floured surface and knead gently 10-12 times. Pat out to about ½ inch thickness. Cut out with 2” cutter and place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 6-10 minutes, until golden.
